| Richard Gere wows the public in San Sebastian By h.b. - Sep 24, 2007 - 7:59 AM Richard Gere in San Sebastian - Photo EFE The United States actor picked up the film festivals 'Premio Donostia' last night The San Sebastián Film Festival last night played tribute to Richard Gere, who picked up his Premio Donostia as ‘a universal icon of the cinema’. He had spent the day meeting and greeting and all Spanish commentators were impressed by the man’s grace and charm, and finally collected his award from the Spanish actress Aitana Sánchez Gijón in the Kursaal Auditorium. She confessed to being in love with Gere since her adolescence. He gave one of the longest speeches ever heard in San Sebastian, and said it was also important for him to see the resume of his career that the public had just been shown. He ended his speech with a call for togetherness and to take part united in the world, for which we are all responsible. |
| Actor RICHARD GERE has been honoured with a lifetime achievement award at a Spanish film festival. The Pretty Woman star picked up the Donosti award at the 55th annual San Sebastian Film Festival in north-eastern Spain on Sunday (23Sep07). He says, "I still have some more years left to do movies and this is encouragement for me to work in the future." Previous recipients of the award include Woody Allen, Robert De Niro, Jessica Lange and Matt Dillon. |
