| Activist, Philanthropist, Actor...Richard Gere has maintained an active position in his stance for global awareness and the dream that we can all be united as one people, one world, free of intolerance and hatred for one another, free of violence, free of suffering. He has been very active in various humanitarian causes including, but not limited to; the Tibetan crisis and the hope of finding a peaceful resolution to regaining Tibetan autonomy, HIV/AIDS awareness, cultural understanding and preservation, human rights and other various humanitarian causes. His job as an actor has provided the financial means and the visibility for him to be able to pursue his dreams and goals of a peaceful world. His compassion and kindness has been emulated by supporters around the globe and he has gained widespread support from friends, fans and foes alike.
