| Richard Gere's Transformation Through Time |

| He's an actor, a singer, a humanitarian and ... a tap dancer. Known almost as well for his support of Tibet as he is for his acting acumen, Richard Gere left college after only two years to pursue theater and soon landed a lead role in the London stage production of Grease. His breakout Hollywood moment came in 1980 with American Gigolo. Audiences were wooed by sexy Gere and only fell harder when he romanced Debra Winger in the 1982 film An Officer and a Gentleman. The 1990s brought Pretty Woman—a surprise box-office smash. (Fans note: Musician Gere composed and played his own piano piece for the film.) Gere married Cindy Crawford in 1991; they divorced in '95. He quietly tied the knot with actress Carey Lowell in a private ceremony in 2002. Most recently Gere earned accolades—and garnered a Golden Globe—for his role in Chicago. The Hollywood favorite seems to have a perfect life: children, beautiful wife and award-filled career. It seems that Gere's got good karma. |
